Privacy and terms

Modern Wild is run by Sarah Ryan in Aotearoa New Zealand. This page explains how I look after your personal information, and the terms for using modernwild.org, which includes the Ancestral Regeneration pages and the psilocybin journey support pages. I’ve written it in plain language. If anything is unclear, please ask.

Privacy policy

I follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles. Because some of what you share with me is about your health, I treat it with particular care.

What I collect

• What you choose to tell me through the enquiry, intake and preparation forms, or by email, phone or video call. This can include your name, email, phone number, where you live, your date of birth, and information about your health, wellbeing, history and goals.
• Notes from our sessions, if we work together.
• Payment details needed to send and receive payments, such as your name and the amount paid. I don’t see or store card numbers.

Only your name and email are needed to get in touch. Everything else is up to you.

How the forms work

The forms on this website don’t store your answers. When you press send, they open an email to me on your own device, so you can read exactly what you’re sending before it goes. Your answers then reach me by email.

Why I collect it

• To reply to you and arrange a call.
• To understand you as a whole person and offer support that suits you.
• For psilocybin journey support: to help you prepare, decide whether this is a good fit, and support your integration afterwards.
• To keep simple records of our work together and of payments.
• If you ask to join a list, such as a waiting list or newsletter, to stay in touch about what you signed up for.

I only use your information for the reason you gave it to me, or for something closely connected that you’d reasonably expect.

Who sees it

• Me. Your information is kept private and is not sold, rented or traded.
• Coaches who work with me, only if you choose in-person support from one of them, and only what they need to know to help you.
• Services I use to run my practice, such as email, video calls, file storage and payments. Some of these are based overseas, including in the United States, so your information may be stored outside New Zealand. I choose well-known providers with strong security.
• No one else, unless you ask me to share it, or the law requires it, or there is a serious threat to someone’s life or safety.

For psilocybin journeys, you book and pay licensed Oregon service centres directly, and you choose what to share with them. I don’t pass your information to a service centre unless you ask me to.

How I keep it safe and how long I keep it

I keep your information in password-protected accounts and devices, and take reasonable care to protect it from loss, misuse or unauthorised access. I keep client records for as long as I need them for our work and to meet legal and tax requirements, and then delete them securely.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, and ask me to correct it. You can also ask me to delete it, or to stop contacting you, at any time. Just email me and I’ll respond within 20 working days. If you’re not happy with how I’ve handled your information, please talk with me first. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

The website itself

• This website doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
• It remembers a couple of small preferences in your own browser, such as which hemisphere you live in for the seasonal guide. These stay on your device and never reach me.
• The website is hosted by Netlify, and its fonts come from Google Fonts. Like most websites, these services may receive basic technical information such as your IP address and browser type when the page loads.
• Links to other websites are provided for your interest. Those sites have their own privacy practices.

Terms of use

Education and coaching

Everything on this website, and in our sessions, is holistic education and coaching for health and wellbeing. It is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and I am not a registered health practitioner. You remain in charge of your own health decisions. In an emergency, call 111 in New Zealand, or your local emergency number.

Psilocybin journeys

• Psilocybin is never sold, supplied or held by Modern Wild, and I do not facilitate psilocybin sessions.
• Journeys take place only at licensed psilocybin service centres in Oregon, USA, under Oregon law. You choose, book and pay the service centre directly. Modern Wild receives no commission or payment from service centres.
• My role is preparation, accompaniment, and integration support.
• Psilocybin remains illegal in New Zealand, Australia and many other places, and under US federal law. Nothing here encourages anyone to break the law where they live.
• Travel to the United States is your own decision and responsibility, including entry requirements.

Bookings, payments and koha

Prices are shown in New Zealand dollars unless stated otherwise. When we agree to work together, the details of what’s included, payment, cancellations and refunds are set out in your client agreement. A small number of koha places are offered each month, at my discretion.

The Ancestral Regeneration Protocol

The Ancestral Regeneration Protocol was created by Bethany van der Harst of Vanderharst Homestead, who shares it freely. It is shared here with her permission and encouragement. Please honour that spirit by sharing it freely too, and by crediting her.

My own content

The photos, recipes, writing and design on this website are © Sarah Ryan, Modern Wild, unless stated otherwise. You’re welcome to use them for your own personal use, and to share links to these pages. Please don’t copy or republish them, or use them commercially, without asking me first. The Learn together pack is for the personal or single-family use of the person who buys it.

I may update this page from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
